The Last Lecture

If you have not had the chance to read this book - I highly recommend it!!

Life has been absolutely crazy... but one of my school projects was to read a book & apply its concepts to my life (along with writing a bunch of papers on the book.. boo) BUT it has been an assignment I have been very grateful for. This book is so positive and motivating. You can't read it without feeling such gratitude and positivity for the hopes of your own future.

A favorite thought of mine that came from this book was:

"Brick walls are there for a reason. They give us the chance to show how badly we want something." - I love that & couldn't agree more!!

If you get the chance: read this book! I'll even let ya borrow it ;)

Sunday was SUCH a good day in the King household... Mike was ordained as a PRIEST!

I can't even begin to describe how grateful I am for this amazing man in my life & his worthiness to receive the priesthood!!

Next step: Mike become an ordained Elder & then: sealed in the temple!

Unfortunately my parents & McKall were out of town (McKall is doing an internship for Senator Lee in DC so my parents were dropping her off!) but my fabulous grandparents came down for the ordination. I was so glad they came... I even made my very first crock-pot roast dinner & thank heavens it turned out delish! I didn't get a pic but here is the fun fam playing Clue! By far the best board-game out there...

I love this boy so much! He completely makes my life :) I can't wait for the day we are sealed for ever & ever!

Vent Session!!!

Alright... here it is. I got really steamed today & I have to vent about it.. haha

In class today my teacher decided to call role & have us answer using a noun to describe us in one word and said we could not use the same word that someone before us had used. Easy enough right? Well, I started to chatting with my friends about it, joking around & got caught off guard by the time the teacher got to my name on the role. So of course I say "uhh.... I dunno!" and as my heart starts pounding in panic mode at being put on the spot & my mind starts reeling... then my teacher says "how about dumb?"

Yes, DUMB!

I was shocked & kinda hurt... a friend sitting close whispered to me "just say married!" so I did. Well of course my jerk of a teacher states "So you're out of the UTI stage of it.." and proceeds to talk about newlywed sex life. I was mortified.

How could a teacher be SO rude & make such comments in front of my entire class?!

Yeah, great way to start off the year. Let's just say I am NOT off to being a fan of this lady...

One think I have learned in nursing school so far... nursing teachers think nothing is off limits & have no boundaries. Can you say uncomfortable??

Back to School

I have to say... I do not think I am ready to put back on the glamorous (BIG laugh) Weber State nursing scrubs! I cannot believe how fast summer rushed by & now it is back to school.
I am so grateful to be in my last year for my RN & that Mike will be getting his Bachelors degree completed this year. SUCH a good feeling!
It is going to be a rough semester & it shall be interesting to see how being married affects my school life.. people tell me they got better grades after being married? I hope so!! haha.

I am so excited to be a registered nurse & cannot wait to begin my career!! Bring it on Weber State!
Hope you all are ready for this fall season & all the glorious fun school brings... or not. :)

I miss the internet!

How I have missed the blogging world!!

Sadly I do not have internet at my new residence. [It's KILLER!]

But, we should be getting internet quite soon... and hopefully I will be back to bloggin!

Lake Powell

Lake Powell is probably one of the most ideal vacation spots EVER. If you think I am crazy... then you have obviously never been!! Mike & I were lucky enough to join my fam for a week down on the lake & it was pure bliss!

We spent most of our time relaxin, playin with my baby cousin Mitch, rockin tube wars or trying to get up on the wakeboard & surf board! Unfortunately, I didn't take very many pics but most of the ones I got were pics of us playin with Mitch!! I couldn't get enough pics of Mike & Mitch..

It was such a blast and I am so grateful my cute hubby got to come along! He makes everything more fun. It was great to spend so much time with my family as well. It's a crazy adjustment not seeing them all the time so I really treasure the time we spend together.

I'm a King!

There is too much to post & too little time to do it in...

So for now I will say: I LOVE MARRIED LIFE!!

I love being with my best friend all the time.

I love never having to say goodbye just "see ya later!"

I love making dinner in our house.

I love when he calls me wife.

I just love the boy to death!!

May 26th 2011 .. best day ever.

I can't wait to spend forever & eventually eternity with my guy!

It's all because of Johnny Depp... I fell in love!

If you know me at all... then you know I am a tremendously huge Johnny Depp fan. Duh.

Well, for this little story of how I finally got Mike to "ask me out" that is an important little fact.

I first saw Mike at a football banquet in December of 2007. He was a Snow College football coach and I was fortunate enough to help out with the bowl game banquet for the team. That was the extent of our our interaction... just seeing each other. But I asked my friend Kaylee about him & she said that she had been going on dates with his roommate & could definitely get me a date with that Cute Face Mike... and thus the name Cute Face Mike was born.

So Spring semester started back up & not much progress was made throughout the semester with Cute Face Mike. I became really good friends with Mike's roommates as I started to go over to his apartment in attempt to hang out with him but Mike did not want much to do with me... sheesh. In all my attempt to get Mike's attention however, one of Mike's roommates started to have a crush on me & asked me out on dates and really threw a wrench in on my plans! ha ha. But then the semester ended uneventfully.

So over the summer we would text a tiny bit here and there. He still didn't really want much to do with me. (What a jerk right!?) And then one day I got super brave (over text... so dunno if that really is as brave.. haha) and just told him that I liked him & blah blah blah....

Well apparently Mike was with his buddies & showed them the text & they just thought that was about the funniest thing in the world. (Embarrassing much?! YA!) And he just responded back with something along the lines of "Well, I know my roommate really likes you so I don't want to step on any toes. We will see what happens in the fall." Boo.

So then comes a new year at Snow: Fall of 2008. I was stoked to be going back and to be living with my best buds.. situation couldn't have been better! And, I was very stubborn and was going to keep trying to date Mike. Luckily things were not awkward when I saw Mike after my summer text confession, haha. So we continued to talk and hang out here and there. I even threw Mike a surprise bday deal that he showed up SUPER late to & by the time he arrived I had to run my roommate to the nearest hospital due to kidney stones. Wasn't ideal.

It was after that point though that it seemed like things started to change... I can't even describe what it was or how but I just knew things were different between me & Mike.

So.. yes, FINALLY he asked me on a date to watch Sweeney Todd, and of course I was all over that. That was probably the only night I nearly stayed up all night long... we watched the movie, talked, cuddled and I even got a long awaited kiss. It was perfect. After that Mike & I became a real thing & I have been the happiest girl since!!! I love Mike with all my heart & I am so grateful he eventually gave in and gave me a chance. He has blessed my life so much and I cannot wait to spend forever with him!

It's love.

After putting up with my constant nursing school stress and psycho schedule...

after dealing with my indecisive nature and lack of wedding skill planning...

after braving my past few hormonal months (birth control is not your friend in the beginning) ..

Mike still wants to marry me!! And, oh man am I grateful!!

I love him more than anything & cannot wait for him to be my husband.

I fall more in love with him everyday...

I can't wait to be a King!!! (34 more days if you were curious)

And aside from the sappy stuff.. I got a LPN job on the surgical unit (the area I have been working) after I pass my boards! I am STOKED! Things are really working out well... :)

It's kind of a funny story...

(The "sympathy belly" we have to wear in class... thing weighs thirty pounds & presses on your bladder! awful!)

So, lucky me, I have been doing my clinicals (aka following a nurse around the hospital all day) on the OB floor. I have LOVED it!! My only issue... is that I puke every time. I know, kind of a big issue.. ha ha.

So yesterday in my clinical I was on the labor and delivery unit.. I was helping this mom hold her leg & work through contractions (ROUGH stuff...) when all of a sudden I started feeling awful. Yes, it was quite a gross circumstance but you gotta understand I have a tough stomach! I watch surgeries & see "sick things" all the time. None the less, I started feeling quite whoozy.. the husband of the laboring wife said "She isn't lookin so good" but as the nurse was obviously helping the patient and monitoring her she stated "Oh, no she is doing fine!! Really good!!" And of course the husband responded "NO! Your student!" And at that point I put the lady's leg down & proceeded to venture to the nearby garbage and vomit my guts out. Nice image right?! TOTALLY embarrassing... After going through that little ordeal I simply responded "Oh I feel fine! I usually just puke once & feel much better!" Well, of course the nurse on the labor & delivery unit had to ask "Are you pregnant?!?!" And, well.. I felt like such a fool for just randomly puking I said YES! What a dumb move. After that point I had to spend the entire day pretending I was pregnant & making up answers for all the nursing staff & OB doctor's questions. It was just lovely. haha.. I couldn't figure out a way to just say "I lied I am not pregnant, I am just an idiot & puke. That's all." And how do you take back agreeing that you are pregnant?? Yeah. Like I said, bad move. Made for a funny day though & dang... I am one good actress ;)

I am just hoping I do not run into that nurse I told EVER.

Bon Jovi!!

If you didn't know the legendary BON JOVI rocked Salt Lake last night & of course his #1 fan and her 2 daughers attended his concert!!

If you know my mom, you knew this was probably going to happen:

She was such a hoot!! I had about just as much fun watching her watch Bon Jovi as I did watching the concert myself!!

But of course I did have my major jam out sessions as well... I mean I grew up rockin out to JBJ!!

(Notice the older couple sitting down in front of us.. this concert had THEE widest variety of fans. It was so strange and funny)

And, of course, you have no option other than to BELT it when Living on a Prayer comes on... probably the top fav Bon Jovi song.

Yeah... it was a real good time.

Rain all day huh?!?

Wish I could tell you this cute picture was one of mine taken today but... sad news.

My engagement pictures were supposed to take place today but my photographer and I talked yesterday & decided to postpone them because weather reports were saying rain and snow all day.... and yeah, that didn't happen!!

Kinda bummed but what can ya do I guess?? We are scheduling to take them next week. (knock on wood)

But at least I got to spend the whole day with my guy & got a ton of homework done! :)

Homework has definitely taken over my spring break. Not cool.

And on another note... Mike & I need to register! We are thinking of registering at:

a) America First

b) Target or c) bed bath & beyond.

Option a) is almost a definite but b) and c) are a toss up... what do you guys think!? Thanks :)

Wedding countdown...

I am SO in love with this boy...

and in 71 days I will be marrying him!!

Wedding plans are going as well as possible! It is crazy how fun yet fRuStRaTiNg wedding planning is. I am having a love/hate relationship with the whole thing.

Mike & I are suppose to get our engagement pics this week & I am STOKED!

It's all coming together!

It finally feels as if wedding plans are finally coming together!

I went to a bridal show on Saturday & it really was a big help.

This week I am looking through some venues & making a decision on the location and date (finally).

And, I pretty much have a dress!! Well.. I am deciding between two dresses right now and both are gorgeous!! Allure Couture has thee most amazing dresses. Ever.

And last but not least... on this upcoming superbowl Sunday the Killpacks & Kings will finally meet. I know, I know... kind of ridiculous that the parents haven't met yet but we are taking care of that detail now. Needless to say: I am SO nervous!! It is going to be one interesting event. ha ha. I just hope my family can be normal... for once :)

Disneyland!

Well seeing as I have been called of work AGAIN, I guess I have some time to blog about my Disneyland trip!

My family drove out on Sunday but McKall & I couldn't miss all of our classes so we were lucky enough to fly out Tuesday night. Flying is always an interesting experience... but I love it.

Ahh, Disneyland. Now, if you don't know this about me shame on you.. but I LOVE Disneyland. I mean LOVE. For me it never gets old or boring. I could go several times a year & be the happiest camper in the world. :)

This trip was especially fun because we went with our friends the Campbells. Who have such cute and fun kids! Ellie is my favorite little bud & was such a blast to have around. She was the bravest child EVER & wanted to ride all the rides and found It's a Small World "boring" ha ha.

Best story about Ellie though.. As most small children she is not afraid to comment on anything she sees so as the group was walking along we saw a man with a prosthetic leg who Ellie proceeded to point at and yell "It's a robot!!" SoOoO funny. [And I think thankfully the guy did not hear her or at least did not acknowledge it! ha]

We had a celebrity sighting on the trip, yes, that is in-fact Snoop Dogg riding Splash Mountain.

How funny is that?!

Disneyland & California Adventure were of course a blast! And I have to say if you get the chance to go this year you have to check out the Wonderful World of Color show at California Adventure. I am not even joking when I say it is the neatest thing I have ever seen!! It was beyond awesome.

My family & the Campbells also spent a day at Sea World & Six Flags. Sea World is so fun and Six Flags was... nice. haha. Overall though the trip was PERFECT! The only thing that could have made it better was having Mike there :) We are planning on going to Disneyland for our honeymoon & I am stoked of course! Mostly because Mike has never been. Can you believe that?! Crazy business I think.

Wedding plan progress?

Well, not much to update wedding plan wise.

I do have to say that I love talking wedding plans with my cute guy. It is so fun!! My mom has bought a ton of bridal magazines & we are gonna go to some bridal shows. This whole engagement/wedding is starting to feel real..

If you haven't heard we are thinking May twenty-something. I think 25th or 26th. It's just deciding where to have the whole thing that is the biggest deal at the present.

BUT I will let everyone know once things have been more finalized...

because you all better be there!!!

And with that.. I am off to Disneyland :)

Engaged!!

So the good news is true...

I am gonna be a KING!!!

I'd never seen any other ring quite like it....

So my fun night started out at Zoo lights. We took my little brother & sister and it was a lot of fun! Freezing, but very fun :)

After lights we just headed back to my house to watch a movie, eat treats, & play games on the kinect. It was a very chill & fun night!!

We watched the countdown on TV & right after midnight Mike slipped out 'to go upstairs & fill my water bottle' but then he called me to come up. So I walk up the stairs & it was pitch black... I turned on the light to find my cute guy on one knee with my ring in hand!!! I was SHOCKED!

Honestly people we have had the ring for FOREVER so I was the most shocked that he had found the ring out of my closet!! But after overcoming my shock & crying.. I of course said YES!

I am so excited to be marrying my best friend & love of my life!! We are thinking the end of May or first of June.

It will prove interesting to find a place to do a full out wedding!! [We will have to wait to go to the temple since Mike was just baptized in Oct. :) ] but I couldn't be more ecstatic about anything!! For now I am kinda thinking Joseph Smith Memorial building... but if anyone has some ideas for a gorgeous wedding spot let me know!!
