I've been shot!! ... kinda

So I know this is a really good looking picture (haha)... but it gives a little insight to the pain I braved today! :) 

Okay so I didn't literally get shot - but I got a lot of shots today! Well 4, but when you are talking about shots that's a lot!! And let me say one thing - OUCH! ... they hurt really good. The best part is that I have to go in several more times throughout the next several months to be all caught up for my Africa immunizations. I definitely know it is going to be worth it though! I am getting so anxious for my adventure. 

I have been doing a fundraiser this week to help with some of the costs and it was pretty fun actually. I sold pizzas - quite the saleswoman if I may say so myself... I am glad that I was able to do something instead of having to ask people just to donate. I really want this trip so much!! I am willing to work my butt off for it :) 

Being Grateful

Well once again it takes me weeks and weeks to post a new blog... my bad!! 

Life is going pretty swell though... I cannot even believe that I am almost finished up with my last semester at Snow College! I have some mixed feelings about it but I'm excited to move on to the next step in my life. I know it will be nuts to try and move back home and fit back into the swing of my families lives but I am looking forward to it. I know i'll miss my college freedom but it will be nice to have free food, utilities, and really be able to make and save money! 

Sometimes I have a hard time being grateful and satisfied with the things I have when I come home and see that my family gets all these new things! I feel so broke at college :( it is a good experience I know and I am glad that I get to realize and be grateful for the things I have. 

Attending Snow College has not only given me a great educational experience but some great real life experiences! I think I know the worth of a dollar now :) ... ask my brother Kaden (who is 12) he thinks my 10 year old sister Shelby needs to move away for two weeks to learn the value of a dollar!! haha - crazy kids. 

I know this post is super random but I felt like I wanted to get it out there! 

Well all I can say is that I am super blessed and am grateful for the little things I am constantly learning.

Africa - here I come!!

Ever since I was in Jr. High and first read the books Cry the Beloved Country & Things Fall Apart i've had a deep passionate interest in African culture. From then on I told myself that one day I was going to travel to Africa. Now... I am finally having that opportunity!

This summer I am going to be traveling with the group Mothers Without Borders to Zambia Africa to spend 15 days volunteering. Most of the volunteer work I will be participating in will be with young children orphaned due to the serious HIV/AIDs pandemic taking place in Africa now.

I am so excited and anxious to get over there and start helping! The biggest thing right now though is raising enough money to get myself to Africa in the first place. There is a figured cost that I must raise to pay for the trip and that does not include the airfare, shots, & etc. that will need to be figured into the total cost! Wow.

So if you know of any companies or individuals that would be willing to donate to support Mothers Without Borders & help me get to Africa to volunteer let me know!!

New Year, New Semester!

Well i'm back at Snow for another (and final) semester. So far things are going pretty swell. I am only taking 9 credits so that kinda rocks!! I am also working on the President's Leadership team again and still totally Loving it! I have made such great and cute friends from my team and just at Snow College in general. I cannot even believe this is my last semester here! Time really does fly. I want to make it the best though and get some legit excellent grades!! I have a feeling that this is gonna be an awesome semester :)

Halloween Time :]

So I am super terrible at updating my blog! Opps.

Big Events:

Abbie's Birthday!!!

This was a total blast & a huge surprise to Abbie. We originally wanted to fill the pool with legit water but thought that was probably not the wisest thing... so balloons! We put our swimsuits over our close and partied quite hard. I highly recommend a balloon bday bash.  

High School Musical 3 came out & Karyn came home with me to see it :] + My Grandma's annual Halloween Bunko Party!!!

So I was SUPER stoked about High School Musical coming out. My sister and I were able to be extras in the movie over the summer so we were way hoping to be able to see ourselves up on the big screen. Needless to say there were a million people there but McKall and I swear we saw ourselves! haha I am quite proud to because before this Karyn hated High School Musical

but... I totally converted her. Go my team!!

Karyn also came to my annual family bunko party. Quite the time. We play every year & my grandma always makes homemade chicken noodle soup & chili. SO delish.

Halloween

I ended up deciding to come home last minute for Halloween so I could see my cute siblings in their costumes and actually accomplish some homework projects I wouldn't tackle at school. I'm super glad I came home though - I love seeing kids in their costumes!!!
